Microtest integrates FDB OptimiseRx

Microtest Evolution users will now benefit from more enhanced, clinically appropriate prescribing guidance at the point of care and at the right time in the prescribing workflow thanks to a new integration with FDB OptimiseRx from Hearst Health International.  Microtest and Hearst Health International have worked together to integrate FDB OptimiseRx into Microtest’s core Open Evolution solution.  OptimiseRx will be rolled out across Microtest sites from late August.

FDB OptimiseRx is the only prescribing decision support solution for primary care that uses information from the patient record to present prescribers with guidance messages that are tailored to the patient record. FDB OptimiseRx guidance messages support prescribers to make better prescribing decisions that are in line with the nationally recognised evidence bases, the local formulary and that are cost-effective. The solution delivers contextual guidance in a way that is intuitive to prescribers. Integration with FDB OptimiseRx is the latest pioneering development from Microtest, which is one of the UK’s top four GP system suppliers.

Darren Nichols, Managing Director, Commercial Operations at Hearst Health International says: “FDB OptimiseRx is used by GPs and prescribers in many millions of patient consultations every month and is helping to drive up the quality of prescribing across the NHS, whilst safely reducing unnecessary costs. We’re delighted to bring FDB OptimiseRx to Microtest Open Evolution customers; the feedback from early adopters has been overwhelmingly positive.”

Dan Thomas, Prescribing Information Manager at NHS Kernow Clinical Commissioning Group said: “Point of care advice systems are key to NHS Kernow’s aims of supporting cost effective and safe prescribing. The outcomes and feedback from the use of FDB OptimiseRx in practices in Cornwall has been excellent – we are very much looking forward to being able to support our Microtest practices in this way.”

Chris Netherton, Microtest’s Managing Director says: “At Microtest, we continually strive to support our customers and meet their requirements, both for ease of solution usage and to enhance patient safety. This new integration is really exciting for the company and once again highlights Microtest’s commitment to our customers.”
