HIMSS 2018 Saudi Arabia

Last month FDB exhibited at the HIMSS 2018 conference and exhibition in Saudi Arabia.  The HIMSS theme this year was “Reimagining Healthcare in Saudi Arabia” and focused on the digital transformation that is happening in hospitals across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as further afield.

As part of the Vision 2030, a project to grow and diversify the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s economy, the government is spending billions of Saudi Riyals to develop and improve the healthcare system. According to the HIMSS event website the Kingdom announced 420 health projects in 2017 and laid foundation stones for an additional 127 health facilities.  Saudi Arabia is the largest and fastest growing healthcare market in the GCC, estimated to reach SR92.6 billion (USD25 billion) by 2020.

Dr Mehmood Syed, Regional Managing Director for FDB in the Middle East, said: “As with health care systems across the world, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is transforming healthcare through technology and there is a growing demand for evidence-based clinical decision support (CDS) solutions to support this transformation.  FDB delivers a range of CDS solutions across the Middle East and is uniquely positioned to support Saudi Arabia with its vision for a more effective and efficient healthcare system.”

As part of the Hearst Health network, FDB delivers a range of technology solutions that enhance clinical decision-making, cost-effectiveness and patient outcomes. These solutions, which Dr Mehmood Syed presented at the HIMSS Saudi Arabia 2018 exhibition, include:

FDB MedKnowledge – the Middle East version of the MedKnowledge drug database provides the latest clinical and commercial information on registered drugs from the GCC.  MedKnowledge integrates into clinical workflow to provide active medication clinical decision support at the point of care, enabling real-time alerts and warnings that help to reduce prescribing and dispensing errors.

Zynx – this market leading evidence-based order set and plan of care solution integrates into hospital electronic medical record (EMR) systems to guide clinical performance in-line with current best practice and evidence. Zynx helps to standardize the quality of care patients receive – improving patient outcomes, improving drug prescribing choices and decreasing inappropriate testing.

MCG – this solution helps healthcare organizations implement informed care strategies that proactively and efficiently move patients toward health. MCG care guidelines solutions provide fast access to evidence-based best practices and care-planning tools across the continuum of care, supporting clinical decision-making and documentation as well as enabling efficient transitions between care settings.
